How Harry Potter fan fiction helped Jill Scharr deal with her anxiety from a major character’s death.

I’m not a fan fiction guy by any means, but I totally “get it” here. Very thoughtful piece from Jill.

Troll getting a remake titled “Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter”

iheartchaos:

If you’ve never seen Troll, you might be confused by that headline. Hell, if you’ve seen Troll, you still are probably confused by the headline, and I’m sure that’s what the filmmakers are banking on. You see, the main character in the 1986 film was named Harry Potter, long before JK Rowling ever set pen to paper to create the Harry Potter universe. So it’s a perfectly legitimate use of the name, but it still is confusing, and the filmmakers don’t give a fuck.

HARRY POTTER Criterion Collection Covers

Graphic designer named Patrick Sullivan designed a (faux) set of Criterion covers and cases for the 8-movie set and it’s just gorgeous. You can visit the Tumblr page for high res. I just love these and they’re such a fitting tribute to this unforgettable series of movies, simply because they deserve this kind of love and attention just for being as great as they are, especially to the fans. Harry Potter Criterion Collection. If only it were real…!

J.K. Rowling Announces Pottermore

JK Rowling unveils mysterious Harry Potter website ‘Pottermore’ | Digital Spy
The Potter author launched Pottermore.com - currently featuring just a logo, the message “Coming soon” and Rowling’s signature - on Wednesday, following a frenzied “Secret Street View” challenge.
Ten Potter websites were given co-ordinates which each pertained to a different letter in the Pottermore name, all of which were pieced together to reveal the website’s address.
While no further details have been revealed about the project, a source at hpana.com, who has apparently seen the site, described it as “breathtaking in scope, detail and sheer beauty”.
A Pottermore Twitter account has also been set up at twitter.com/pottermore. The name is said to have been the last patent recorded by Rowling, who registered the word internationally in July 2009.
Perhaps this is the rumored Potter encyclopedia she was supposedly writing?
